Know the limits of printing and embroidery! A guide to minimum character size and line width

When designing personalized products, it is important to fit the design into the limited print area. Especially when printing on small items, if the letters and lines are too small, they may be crushed or smudged. This article explains the recommended sizes for each printing method and tips to prevent crushing.

■ Silkscreen: Line thickness <br>If there are many curves, the ink does not adhere well and may result in smudging.
Recommended: Line thickness 0.5pt or more (approximately 0.176mm)
■ Silkscreen: Character size <br>Character size tends to be small due to copyright notation, but it is meaningless if it cannot be read.
Recommended: Font size 5pt or more (approximately 1.76mm)
■ In the case of embroidery <br>Since the thread itself is thick, small letters tend to look squiggly.
Recommended: Line thickness 1mm or more / Font size 12pt or more (approximately 4.23mm)
■ Tips for choosing fonts: Sans serifs Sans serifs (Gothic fonts) are more linear than serifs and are less likely to be crushed, making them more suitable for printing and embroidery. Similarly, for Japanese, choose a font with linear features such as block letters.
